Climate Change Expert Panel Meeting

Organized by CIRDAP, a meeting of the Climate Change Expert Panel on “A Systematic Review on Impact of Climate Change on Rural Livelihood and Disaster Risk Reduction” was held on 15 June at DG’s Mini-Conference Room, CIRDAP, Dhaka. In the meeting, Mr. Khalid Mahmud, Director (Planning and Development) Department of Disaster Management, Government of Bangladesh; Mr. Newaz Ahmed Chowdhury, Join Director, Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development, BARD, Comilla; Mr. Gawer Nayeem Wahra, Director, Department of Disaster Management and Climate Change, BRAC; Mr. Abul Kalam Azad, Assistant Professor, Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerabilities Studies, University of Dhaka; and Ms. Eva Benita A. Tuzon, Director, Pilot Projects Division, Mr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman, National Officer (Research) as well as Ms. Najiba Rashid, Intern (PPD) from CIRDAP were present.

The Expert Panel provided some suggestions for the Report which are as follows:

 

Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria for report

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

- Not only climate change but also DRR will be focused

- There will be two chapters of the report

(i) Climate Change

(ii) Natural Disaster

 

- Reports concerned will be on specific topic of hazards

- Landslides and lightening should also added

- Review should be based on 5 year disasters

- Processing stories of risk reduction and also our experience on this.

- National Policy-2016-17

- Disaster Forum of all years and many more documents from DDM website and website of Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies

- Best practices of Bangladesh which could be suggested to other countries

- Chapter by chapter experts will give their review on the report
